How To Wear A Statement Jacket

How To Wear A Statement Jacket

Jackets are a great way to dress up a look and really accent your personal style. Not many people think about them that way, however an embellished or patterned jacket can make an outfit go from regular to amazing.

When wearing a statement jacket you want your outfit to complement the jacket while being able to stand on its own. If you want to be able to wear your jacket indoors than alter your outfit so you wont overheat. I have put together 4 different ways you can wear your statement jacket and put a shop section below with some amazing pieces!

The first and easiest way to wear a statement jacket is pairing it with basics. It could your simple balck shift dress or a pair of jeans and a basic tee/blouse. Add a pair of heels, boots or even sneakers and let the jacket have the perfect base. It also takes those basic pieces in your wardrobe to another level, and is a brilliant option if you are wearing your jacket indoors.

Now if you’re a little more adventurous then going with a monochromatic or tonal look is chic and always on trend. This works really well if your jacket has embellishment on it or is made from a textured fabric like velvet, fur or baroque. This look allows you to wear a more playful jacket like the ombre one below, while keeping your look sophisticated.

However if wearing pattern is more your style, then pull a colour from your jackets print and use it as the base colour for your other patterned clothing. You can also use the same pattern or similar pattern in varying colours like below. If you are a little nervous trying print on print then pair your jacket with basic black/navy and white striped piece. You could even start with a striped shirt and a pair of jeans.

And lastly one of my favourite looks is to colour block with contrasting or complimentary colours to the jacket. It’s a bold look and not for the faint hearted, but if you really want to stand out then this look is for you! You can also do this look with bold prints. For example if you have a red and pink patterned jacket you could pair it with a yellow pant or top. The skies the limit.

Hopefully you've found some inspiration for wearing your statement jacket or find one you want below. Winter is my favourite season, you can layer and really have fun with your wardrobe! Below in the shop section i've found some amazing statement jackets for you with some of them even on sale! Happy shopping!!
