The Hunt: The Layered Necklace
I love this trend! Obsessed! I have stalked numerous accounts looking for the perfect pieces and finally took the plunge and bought some! However as there are so many out there it took me a while to find the ones that were right for me. My struggle was maninly around that fact that I didn't want anything religious (love them, but I'm not so it didn't feel appropriate) so when I found the coins that weren't I just jumped and got them.
For those of you who want to wear the trend but don’t know where to start just know there aren't any real rules so don’t worry about getting it wrong! If you google how to layer necklaces you will find a lot of references and "how to's". I say just follow what you like. You don't have to stop at two, you can layer four or five if you want to. Combine plain chains with pendant pieces or just layer chains. You can also buy pieces that have multiple chains in one so you don't have to think about it.
The only thing I would look for when choosing your pieces is the spacing. Not only the space between each necklace but where they sit on your body. Some choose to have them sit quite close together some like them spaced perfectly one under the other. Being bigger in the bust any pendant that sits along the bust line bounces when I walk and not in a subtle way. So I always chose necklaces that sit in the middle of my chest or below my bust line.
Most stores online will have the necklace length so you can estimate where it will sit on you. This picture is a great reference especially if you don’t have a measuring tape with you when looking. Just screenshot it so you have it on your phone.
If you want to shop the trend the you can get started by collecting pictures of people wearing the look. You can create an album in Instagram or Pinterest. Then buy one or two just to start with and add more as you get more confident. I've popped some shopping links below, some are more expensive than others but there are options for everyone. And if you are worried about them tangling I have added two places you can buy spacers from!
