Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I love all things fashion, home, beauty and food. Hope you enjoy your visit!

Is It Worth The Hype?

Is It Worth The Hype?

I recently bought the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream and I love it! I was skeptical at first as it was hyped up so much! So I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it.

Now this particular product promises a lot… The blurb explains it better than I could. It’s a CC+ cream with SPF 50 that delivers 7 products, all in one! Full-coverage foundation. Brightening colour corrector. Hydrating and anti-aging serum. Poreless finish primer. Dark spot concealer. Moisturizing day cream.

Wow, that’s a lot to digest so you can understand my hesitation to try the product, while at the same time eager to see what it’s like. I also watched a tutorial on the IT Cosmetics Instagram account which said it also acts as a primer so you can wear directly to your skin. Which for a mum like me is great!

So keeping that in mind the first time I tried it I did do a full morning skincare routine first as I wanted to see how the foundation wore over the top of it. The products I am currently using however do leave my skin very dewy and sticky (not completely happy with it just yet) and I also used a my Morphe foundation kabuki brush which they recommend you use (not that exact one but you know what I mean).

On first application I noticed the formulation is a lot thicker than I thought it was going to be. Which isn’t a bad thing, well for me anyway. The colour was a little darker than I was hoping but I can get away with it. It applied and blended well but I didn’t really think my brush was the best was to apply it but couldn’t be sure if it was the skincare or the brush.

I used about two pumps of product and it was a bit more than I needed and then I applied my concealer, as I needed something extra to cover my dark circle. I used my translucent powder to set my undereye and then used my setting spray. During the day I noticed it was a bit too shiny for my liking and the under eye area was a bit cakey. However the foundation looked great everywhere else.

My second try I did the same thing except I didn’t do my skincare routine and applied it straight to my skin after I washed my face. I found the overall look was better, less shiny. I did notice again however that my under eye area was cakey, which is a problem I thought was skin related (dry under eyes is something I am looking into) but also thought it could be product related.

On my third try I changed to a beauty blender, which a massive difference to me in how the foundation blended and sat on my skin. I then switched my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder  for my Mecca Banana Powder and that made a massive difference to my under eye area. I still think that its a lot more coverage than I was hoping for but I am a converted woman. I am going to try the illumination version next.

Overall I love this product. It has amazing coverage that you can build up if you need to or you could just throw it on with some mascara and head out the door feeling good. It lasts all day and makes your skin look healthy so if you are on the fence I say take the plunge. If you can head in store to a Sephora and get the right shade (I’ve linked their Sephora page via the image below). Let me know if you’re going to try it out or if you are already on the bandwagon.

Love Mel xo
